“Your Authentic Self Emerges – Part 2”
Sunday, May 2, 2021
Our true journey in the world is to return to our point of origin, allowing the Authentic Self (Christ within) to emerge.
T.S. Eliot: “The end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.”
Meister Eckhart: “The spiritual life is not a process of addition, but rather of subtraction.”
Our mission is to subtract the masks and disguises concealing our Authentic Selves. When we are consciously living from our Authentic Selves, Seven Intrinsic Qualities will naturally shine through us and the masks will naturally fall away.
Part 1 – First Three Intrinsic Qualities shared April 18th
1.WHOLENESS: Remembering we are connected and one with the whole
2.REVERENCE: Recognizing and honoring the sacredness of all life 3.FEARLESSNESS: Facing life fearlessly knowing the authentic self knows no fear because it does not know loss or separation from the whole.
Part 2 – Intrinsic Qualities 4-7 shared May 2nd
4.INTEGRITY: Living the Truth – even when no one else is watching. It is a melding of the authentic self into every thought, word & action.
“My thoughts words and actions reflect my inner wholeness.”
5.HUMILITY: Humility is a complex word … it means different things to different people. Traditionally, it’s defined as “the act of being modest and respectful.” It’s also synonymous w/being humble or meek, and meek gets confused with weak. But Jesus did not preach about weakness. He said: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Meek, in the Aramaic translation, means teachable, open, and receptive. In this context, humility means being able to see different viewpoints, being receptive to new ideas and understandings, not stuck in our old beliefs or perceptions.
Saint Augustine: “Do you wish to rise? … Begin by descending. You plan a tower that will pierce the clouds? … Lay first the foundation of humility.”
“In humility, I am open and receptive to Life.”
6.EQUANIMITY: The dictionary defines equanimity as an “Evenness of mind especially under stress.” Spiritually it is a balanced or even state of mind, being anchored in a state of mindfulness and wholeness, not disturbed by outer conditions or human emotions – regardless of whether they are considered negative or positive.
“I face all of life’s conditions with equanimity.”
