“The Four Kingdoms of Awakening”
Sunday, January 10, 2021
A Kingdom is defined as: “a realm or region in which something is dominant.” There are dominant thoughts and beliefs relevant to each these realms of awakening and we all tend to visit all of them in a non-linear way.
These realms of awakening were first originated with Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith of the Agape International Spiritual Center of Truth and they are very similar to the Four Phases of Consciousness defined by Unity’s co-founder, Charles Fillmore, Victim-Victor-Vessel-Verity.
FIRST KINGDOM: The Why Me or The Mortal Stage (Victim)
Something outside of us is doing something TO us. It could be God outside of us, the devil/enemy, our numerological chart, the cracks on the ground, our parents, our partners, the weather, the government or even the Pandemic. Many things happen AROUND us but only happen TO us when we visit this realm
SECOND KINGDOM: The By Me or Metaphysician Stage (Victor)
We learn that we are a part of “Something Bigger” and that there is a Law or a specific way this “Something Bigger” works & we can work in harmony with.
Earnest Holmes, founder of Science of Mind wrote “We are thinking, willing, knowing, conscious centers of Life. We are surrounded by, immersed in, and there is flowing through us, a creative Something… The sum total of all our thought, will, purpose and belief creates a tendency in this Law that causes It to react to us according to the sum total of that belief. Ignorance of the law excuses no one from its effects. If, then, certain specific ways of thought and belief have produced limitations, OTHER BELIEFS will change them.”
THIRD KINGDOM: Through Me or The Mystic (Vessel)
Ernest Holmes said succinctly: “The mystic is one who senses the Divine Presence.”
A Mystic FEELS God’s Presence or at least has extreme moments of feeling it. In this third realm, we surrender more and more to the Divine and have a desire to be a vessel. We replace the need to control with a sense of a personal relationship with the Divine. We are not attached to a particular outcome and therefore more available to our greatest good. We practice spiritual tools like present moment awareness and forgiveness. Our prayers are less about manifesting and more about willingness and openness.
Charles Fillmore, Keep A True Lent, p 157 “The will… is the directive power that determines character formation. When man wills the will of God to be done, he forms spiritual character. The use of the regenerate will is for the sole purpose of spiritual unfoldment.”
FOURTH KINGDOM OF: “As Me” or Master (Verity)
Jesus our primary example of this fourth Kingdom where there is an absolute union with the Divine. No sense of separation. No division. In this Kingdom, one sees lack, limitation or even Pandemics as a place for calling forth more God. This is how Jesus could turn water into wine; feed thousands; heal the sick & raise the dead. He saw them as opportunities to experience more of God.
Spiritual Awakening is NOT a LINEAR path, but we can consciously choose to make the shift thru spiritual tools:
- Mindfulness: Being aware of the realm you are currently choosing and perhaps making another choice
- Giving of self through unconditional Love
- Looking for the good, seeing with eyes that recognize wholeness
- Stepping out of the way and allowing Spirit to work through you.
