Points to Remember – “You Have Reason to Rejoice”
Sunday, April 11, 2021
- You can choose a path of ‘Radical Acceptance’ where the process has been described as
- Assume you can make a difference,
- Be a good listener and
- Cancel all judgment.
- In other words, be open to all possibilities.
We all have reason to rejoice – and just a few of these reasons include:
You can know that God is with you no matter what.
You can awaken to the True You who is worthy of being loveable (to yourself as well as to others)
This time of bitter disagreement in our country is revealing concrete issues that provide seeds for conflict resolution that can lead to greater social justice and economic equality.
You can choose to embrace the truth that our nation is moving toward a multi-cultural society where the vast benefits far outweigh any risks.
The world, like our individual consciousness, is so alive that opportunity is vast and unlimited.
Our reasons to rejoice come vividly into our awareness once we embrace the Five Core Beliefs of Unity which are:
God is the One Presence and One Power everywhere active in the universe and in my life.
This sets Unity apart from most other spiritual teachings that believe in a devil or satan power. The Truth is, no such power or principle of evil exists. Only the Principle of Absolute Good which is God. The awareness of a single Deity was taught for 1,500 years from the time of Abraham, Moses, King David and beyond until the time of the Exile more than 500 years before the time of Jesus. And although Jesus taught that God is all Power, all Knowledge and everywhere Present, the mistaken teaching of an antichrist persists in some circles.
Since our essence is of God, we are inherently divine.
In the first chapter of the Bible, we are told, “You are made in the image and after the likeness of God.” As a result, it is not possible that any person is born inherently evil or sinful. Evil is the human attempt to divert Divine Intent. Why do people do bad things? Because they are out of alignment with the will of God. God allows humans free will so that we can learn and grow in consciousness. In Unity we teach that heaven and hell are not places, but rather states of consciousness. Heaven is a state where we are in alignment with the will of God. Hell is a state where we are out of alignment with the will of God.
We co-create our experiences by what we choose to think and what we feel and believe.
We are in partnership with God in creating our experiences. This flies in the face of traditional teaching that’s based on a God ‘out there’ that looks down on us, controlling us and judging us. Unity teaches that there is One Mind and our individual mind is a point on that One Mind. So, we are provided the freedom to think (and feel) which means we are responsible for our own lives. As we give love, compassion, life energy, this will be returned unto us. This is the Law of Attraction that Jesus taught. “Give and it is given unto you.” The Law of Mind Action is similar, “Thoughts held in mind produce in the outer after their kind.” This means that, if we want a healthy body, we must think healthy thoughts. And, if we want financial abundance, we can’t think lack. Wanting friends, we can’t think loneliness.
Prayer and meditation heighten our connection with God-Mind.
Prayer and meditation are our connecting link between our mind and the Mind of God. Unity teaches there are three phases of our mind: the Conscious mind that is aware of the world around us, the Subconscious mind that is a storehouse of all we’ve ever thought or felt, and Divine Mind which God has provided each person. “The Kingdom of God is within you.” As we choose to call forth our Divine Mind to lead us and guide us, we are allowing God to bring healing and harmony to us.
Through thoughts, words and actions, we live the Truth we know.
Jesus said, “If you believe these things, it is well that you do them.” In other words, we cannot only embrace thought and prayer, living in a passive state. We must also go into action to do the things that ought to be done by us. We must go into action in our life to be of service to the world. This is what Jesus did, not only praying, but also going out into the world, teaching, healing, blessing others.
As you follow these teachings, an amazing thing happens. Not only are you literally ‘born anew,’ you also find yourself continuing to find new reasons to rejoice.
