Points to Remember — “Just ONE Thing” — Sunday November 15, 2020
Knowing that you are one with the One Power One Presence, One Activity, we call God, you can never be truly alone, nor can you be separate someone you love, someone you miss, or even someone you think your are separate from.
One is the most powerful number you will ever know or be. It is metaphysically it is both the sum and the source of all its parts, including the symbolic number three, the number that represents both the trinity of God and the trinity of man. The Trinity of God is defined as One God in three expressions. The Trinity of Man is the unique individualized expression of God that each of us are, expressed in three ways, in spirit, soul and body.
This is the meaning of the words of Jesus in John, 10:30 “I and the father are one,” and in 14:20 “On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” We are ONE with God, ONE with Spirit, and indvisibly one One with one another.
This oneness is also the first principle of Taoism. “Every being in the universe is an expression of the Tao. It springs into existence, unconscious, perfect, free, takes on a physical body, lets circumstances complete it. That is why every being spontaneously honors the Tao. The Tao gives birth to all beings, nourishes them, maintains them, cares for them, comforts them, protects them, takes them back to itself, creating without possessing, acting without expecting, guiding without interfering. That is why love of the Tao is in the very nature of things. – Tao Te Ching, Chapter 51,
To achieve big things you need to narrow your focus to ONE thing. Whatever the ONE thing is that is right in front of you. Extraordinary results are directly determined by how narrow you can make your focus.” – The One Thing by Gary Keller & Jay Papasan.
There is always one thing behind every successful venture: one person, one idea, one lucky break, one driving intention, one act of kindness one listening heart one act of forgiveness one prayer one-minute meditation one thing of beauty, one thing that creates a tipping point, like the one domino that starts the entertaining fall of tiles.
It might even be just one question: “What IS the ONE thing – I can do – that by doing it – everything else will be easier or unnecessary?”
Physical Health: What is the one thing – I can do – to achieve my fitness goals – that by doing it – everything else will be easier or unnecessary?
Relationships: What’s the one thing – I can do – to improve my relationship with spouse/partner/parents/
Job/school: What’s the one thing I can do to that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?
Spiritual Life: What’s the one thing I can do to deepen my connection with Source or my awareness of one power, one presence?
Deepening our spiritual connection might come down to just one glimpse of the one Light that unites us all.
In an old Jewish story a asked his disciples, “How do you know when the night is giving way and the morning is coming?” One of the followers stood and said, “Teacher, won’t you know that night is fading when, through the dim light, you can see an animal and recognize whether it is a sheep or a dog?”
The rabbi answered, “No.”
“Rabbi,” asked another, “won’t you know that the dawn is coming when you can see clearly enough to distinguish whether a tree is a fig or an olive?”
“No,” responded the teacher. “You’ll know that the night has passed when you can look at any man and any woman and discern that you are looking at a brother or a sister. Until you can see with that clarity, the night will always be with us.”
When we see with that kind of clarity and focus all of our energies on that one Light that Lights us all then we will see that we are all one family, one in Spirit we will truly know the Power of One.
